Kaparelli House, Avlaki, near Kassiopi Sleeps up to 10 Kaparelli House is an exquisite example of the contemporary Corfiot house – the light and airy interior is perfectly complemented by the spacious outdoor living areas, and the large windows that cover entire walls frame views of the utmost beauty and serenity. As far as the eye can see, in a 180-degree arc, are the headlands of northeast Corfu, separated from the charismatic coast of Albania by a stretch of shining sea. The tiny islet of Kaparelli, for which the house is named, forms the focal point of this breathtaking view. Kaparelli House is the family home of a young British architect and his wife and family, also the creators of the beautifully restored Rou Estate. Kaparelli, built to their own enlightened design, it is a reflection of their modern family attitudes. A large, uncluttered kitchen opens on to an awning-shaded terrace where the breathtaking view is the perfect accompaniment to outdoor meals, while dining out at night, with candles lit and moonlight on the sea, is almost unbearably romantic. A TV room allows for sprawling on the sofa in front of some unmissable program beamed down by Sky satellite, and a separate children’s play room opens off this. The sense of romance continues upstairs in the Master double bedroom suite, with its subtle colour scheme, open Corfiot fire place and a private balcony equipped with an outdoor covered Jacuzzi bath. The view from this bath is breath taking. What a way to end the day, bathing by candlelight with just the owls for company! This bedroom also has air-conditioning and Sky TV, whilethe adjoining room is the executive office suite, containing Wi-Fi, computer, printer, scanner and fax and house book library. A full concierge service is provided by the Kaparelli House Manager, who is able to arranging bookings for restaurants, boats, taxis. Both the housekeeper and practical cook will do the shopping and prepare breakfast and one other simple meal each day. A local bakery will deliver fresh bread to the house every day upon request. The dazzling beach of Avlaki, one of the best beaches on this coast, is 1 kilometre away down an unmade country road – a pleasant and peaceful walk or a short car ride. It will not be easy, however, to tear yourself away from the house with its huge, fantastic swimming pool where it is easy to imagine yourself blissfully suspended between sea and sky. The terraces are beautifully designed for outdoor living and make fantastic setting for a session of holistic massage therapy which can easily be arranged.
